FREE PHONE OFFER from FREEPHONEMN.ORG
To qualify for a free wireless phone, individuals must show visual proof that they are on one of the following programs:
•Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, i.e. Food Stamps)
•Section 8 Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
•Medicaid (not Medicare)
•Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
•Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
•Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
•National School Lunch Program’s and free lunch program’s, Individuals must be head of household to qualify.
They must also show a government-issued picture identification card. If that picture ID does not include their current Minnesota residential address, they must bring a document that does (e.g. utility bill, benefits statement, etc.)
There is a limit of one Lifeline-subsidized phone line per household, whether that is wired or wireless service.
If someone meets those qualifications, here’s what they receive:
•A wireless phone, free of charge, without contract or activation fee
•Airtime service without a monthly charge
•Up to 250 minutes of free airtime, each and every month If a person uses up their 250 minutes before their next cycle begins, the phone suspends so they can’t run up any charges. They can buy additional minutes at LifeWireless.com with a credit or debit card or at any Moneygram location with any form of payment. Moneygram charges an additional $3 fee for the transaction. This program is not just for a year or for a defined length of time; rather, the individual will continue to receive their free service for as long as they are on their low-income assistance program and the program is offered by Life Wireless in their state.
