Anishinabe Legal Services
seeks a Financial Administrator at the Main Office in Cass Lake, Minnesota.
Background: Anishinabe
Legal Services is a non-profit organization that provides civil legal services
to the low income communities of White Earth, Leech Lake, and Red Lake
Reservations. The program receives a
variety of grants and contracts from federal, state, tribal and private
sources.
This position requires a strong
candidate very experienced with Microsoft Excel. ALS uses Fund Accounting. Familiarity with Quickbooks is a plus, and
experience with federal and state grants is preferred. A qualified candidate will work directly with
Program Management and the board of directors supporting the organization in
the following areas:
General Accounting: Performs payroll activities; Verifies and post
transactions to journals, ledger and other records. Handles balancing and
reconciliations of sub account activity. Prepares analysis and audit work papers;
and monitors cash flow. Records direct deposit
transactions. Accounts Payable:
Oversees all aspects of accounts payable, Processes/posts a variety of accounting
transactions such as invoices, payments, and expenses in accordance with
department procedures. Maintains accounting files. Enters data into
computerized accounting system (Quickbooks) and uses system to research
questions and generate reports; Grants Billing: Determines program’s monthly
cost allocation per procedures; Understands various grant requirements and
restrictions related to approved costs (ie. Indirect and de minimis costs); Processes
and submits billings for reimbursement from various sources including federal
and state funders; verifies for accuracy to budget and completeness, signatures
and assembly in accordance with reimbursing agency requirements; provides
information of billing activity to grant management staff and for budgeting;
and performs related duties as required.
Qualifications: An
associates’ degree in accounting or business management is required, or a
minimum of 4 years work history in a similar position. Nonprofit experience and specific experience
with federal grant management is a plus.
A people oriented personality is essential, excellent attention to
detail, be able to multi-task, establish priorities and organize efficiently. Knowledge of Quickbooks, excel, outlook, word
and familiarity with other financial software is also essential. Must be able to work independently and as a
team.
Compensation: The position
is fulltime and starting salary is DOE, $58,000-$65,000. Generous benefits
package, including paid health and dental insurance, paid holidays, PTO, life
insurance, and flextime scheduling. Possibility of remote work situation allowed.
